Alas, I have the same problems with other items. I was picking up the kids of a friend of mine. As they piled into the minivan the older declares in a very snooty voice"Oh, you don't have a built-in DVD player, what are we going to watch?" I had to bite my lip from shouting "the world passing you by", but then when he complained he didn't have his own jack to plug in his Nintendo DS (he was 7 at the time), it took the patience of Job not to shake him. The piece de resistance was when they arrived at home, the little one stood at the van's side, just staring at it. When I asked what was wrong, she said "I don't know how to close the door, there's no button". Yes, my love, you have to use that crazy thing called an arm to shut the door. It's a 1999 Mercury Villager, the only thing automatic is the windows. http://www.dawnpoo.blogspot.com

This is not exactly related, but I'm going to tell it anyway, because it's been weighing on me. Last night? I CALLED my daughter's cell phone - she was upstairs in her room - from my land line in the living room, all so I wouldn't have to get up and/or do the whole Girl? What? Huh? Come here! What? thing.

Don't hate me.

My comment sounded a little harsh after posting it and rereading it. I'm sure he's a nice kid...hope I didn't offend you...that was not my intention!

“I’m not used to such a basic model.”

This kid sounds like an a$$! But maybe it's just me. My kids are 5 and 4 so I haven't gotten into the thrills of parenting teens yet. I can hardly wait...

Ha! Aren't you lucky! It really sounds kind of cute that he calls you to check and not your son. (Many are called, few are chosen?) Wow - three whole blocks. Almost enough to work up a sweat.
