Mole Meets Velveteen Rabbit

August 14th, 2007 · 2 Comments

I must be loved. Like a teddy bear held onto for security or the blankie dragged from place to place, there by the grace of God go I…to the doctor with my college kids. And that’s about how I must have looked, like the Velveteen Rabbit. But, what’s wrong with this picture? The kids are too blasted old!
It seems the doctor is still a scary place to visit and this morning, my daughter asked if I would go with her to get her moles burned off. While I would usually jump at the chance at watching this fun-filled experience, we just returnMoley, moley, moleyed from a trip and I have a boatload of things to do and I declined. She was so sweet about it that it tripped me up. Damn those good-natured ones! They get you every time. Her sweet surrender was the strong medicine that froze this old mole and I did an about face.
I dropped off my son at football practice, came home, took the world’s fastest shower and accompanied her to the burning. The moles are gone (no more Austin Powers jokes) and I was there. It was real.

Aw, sweet that she wanted her momma by her side & sweeter that you went. Glad the procedure went well, sounds painful!
