I think Mom must have a June Cleaver fixation. She keeps giving me pearls, upon pearls, upon pearls. There aren’t enough necks around here for all these strands. This photo is minus the two strands I gave my daughters to reduce my pearl inventory after my last birthday.
What is this pearl thing? As a joke I wore all of these to see my parents this weekend and mom liked it! I was going for a laugh (and maybe a little “I think I have enough pearls now” message) and I got compliments.
Of course the kids jumped on board when my joke backfired, saying things like, “Yeah, I think you need just one more to hang in between there and there, You don’t have any pinkish color strands, Mom, etc.” in an effort to encourage additional gifts from the mother of pearls. (Making the thought of re-gifting certain necklaces to them much more palatable to me.)
They’re so cute. Not as cute at the stuffed animals I found upstairs wearing the pearl necklaces I gave them. I asked if they would ever wear them and was told, “Someday. Pearls are for old ladies.”
Yeah, don’t I know.

You know what…pearls are kinda hot. I don’t know about those rusty looking ones but, with the right outfit I think they are jammin. I can be a bastard (when I am tired, sorta sick or hungry), but man I don’t know about that whole pearls and smiling nonsense. I knew this one lady who would wreck your stuff if you whispered menopause within a 15 mile radius, and that was when she was wearing pearls. : )

Joe – pearls as hot material? A whole new concept…I feel like Patty Duke and try to contain the urge to reach for a cardigan when I wear them. Wait until I tell mom.

I love pearls..I guess I’m an old lady…
My 11 year old daughter actually loves them too. Maybe it’s something that is just an acquired taste???
Maybe she saw one of her other friend wearing them… I don’t know. Your post is cute..
The kids love it when they can get one up on us, don’t they?
