My Weekend Trip (a red carpet event)

December 9th, 2007 · 8 Comments

stairs.jpgThis is the scene of my latest embarrassemnt. I rolled down this whole staircase when my boot got caught on the carpet. I didn’t get hurt. I think my winter coat, which I still had on, protected me as I tumbled toward all the people and staff at the bottom right of the staircase.
We were at a meeting at the Fallsview Hotel in Niagara Falls, Canada where I decided to show off my awe-inspiring athleticism. When I arrived at the bottom, I didn’t feel a thing but my face turning red as about 200 Rotarians were signing in for their convention. Thankfully no heart attacks – they all looked pretty old – but lots of open mouths and gasping were had by all.
The staff ran over to see if I was hurt (and gage if I would be suing or not.) I looked around for my family – any one of them – but they missed it. I swear that I was graceful as I rolled down each and every step. No screaming, no panic. Just got to my feet and brused myself off when I arrived. I finally make my big entrance and my family isn’t there to see it. If that audience were only here to witness my big trip, they would have teased me and never let me forget it. Wouldn’t you know I finally do something really truly a cause for celebrity and NO ONE is there to see it. Talk about bad luck!
The only comment I got was from the manager who told me I should be more careful. That’s usually my line.

Oh, you poor thing! Glad you’re not hurt. I did that at Prom. I didn’t scream, either.

Glad you are ok. That’s a mighty tall staircase!

How nice that you were thinking of us at some point after your fall, to stop and take a picture to share. If you must fall down stairs those are some nice ones to fall down.

I’m very glad to hear you weren’t hurt. Obviously, you are in excellent shape. Good thing your coat acted as an air bag!

OH MY STARS! You are so lucky you didn’t break something. That snooty manager would have probably made you pay for it! LOL!! ;o) Glad you are OK, but most of all glad you didn’t break your fingers so you couldn’t type! xoxo

First, glad you are ok. Second…I wish I saw that! Not hurt and funny as hell? Man! That stinks it isn’t on youtube. LOL!

WOW! I can’t believe you wouldn’t have broken something and gotten a free suite or a basket of fruit at least! I heard a pastor once say that if something huge like that happens I have to at least find a story I can tell about it. Looks like you got a story out of it…but a day at the spa might have been a nice gesture on the part of the hotel for putting such dangerous stairs there.
