Buyer Beware of What You Wear

January 16th, 2008 · 5 Comments

little We went to Disneyland last week. It was great fun but this Buffalo gal didn’t pack warm enough clothes for the 44 degree mornings. SO, I quickly went into one of the gift shops at the park to buy a warm sweatshirt. I don’t like lots of logo and stuff on my clothing and I was happy to find this gray sweatshirt with only this nice little “D” on the front. I quickly paid for it and put it on, then walked over towards my family.
I told them how happy I was to find this nice sweatshirt with this teeny, tiny little Disneyland “D” on it so that I wouldn’t feel funny wearing it later on. So happy, I was.

Since I read maps the best of the group, which isn’t saying much for the rest of them, I marched in front of them to lead the way. Suddenly, I heard a loud burst of laughter from all eight folks in my party, especially from my 88-year-old mother-in-law.big

“What’s so funny?” I asked.
This was what was so funny. A glorious, shiny, huge, fetching logo plastered all over my back. So much for unobtrusive.

So I started the day off with a laugh confident that the rest of the day would be like a dream come true. I believe in Mickey.

I’m still trying to figure out how you didn’t notice that small detail….

It was all folded up and I was in a big hurry. Haste makes waste, I guess.

Oh, I’m SOOOO with you on this one! I HATE logos! I hate them on my cars, I hate them on my clothes. My personal opinion is that if they want me to advertise their products, THEY SHOULD PAY ME! Or at least give me the item for free! We placed a special order for a car once (just once, never again!) and requested that their logos be left off during the manufacturing process. They wanted to charge us an additional $200 – in 1988 dollars! – to leave them off. GRRRR! OH well, I guess maybe you can find the bright side and be glad you have such a warm rememberance of a good family time. xoxoxo

Teehee…You didn’t think Disney would let you get away with such a tiny little “D” did you? They want to make sure you spend lots of money on the sweatshirt AND give them lots of advertising as well!

    Thanks for the funny post!

I’ve never known Disney to do anything in a small way. But I’m afraid I’ve done similar things. Seeing what I want to see and not bothering to unfold!
