Keeping Promises

April 14th, 2009 · 10 Comments

My kids absolutely hate that I blog. It is a very sore subject and after they read something they don’t like, always promise to never read it again. Until the next time they read it and the bellyaching starts all over again.

I wrote an article about Facebook in the Buffalo paper that was published this past Friday. My daughter got very upset and it just about ruined the day.  Somehow she thinks my writing is all about her. Obviously, it is all about me.

So, to get me back, she posted a lot of nasty tidbits on my Facebook page and tagged me with a photo of Little Richard. The kids laughed hysterically together as they worked as a team, enjoying the camaraderie as they plotted against their common foe – me.  It was just like old times when I wouldn’t let them do this or that.

I always had a knack for keeping my kids close to each other.

that is hilarious. when school started my 5 year old grandson told his mother and I not to smile when we came to pick him up (pre-k) because it embarrassed him. Kids can think of the strangest things.

Thanks so much for letting me know that I am not the only blogger with this dilemna. I actually considered starting a new blog under a fictitious name to solve the problem. It kind of shows how egocentricity of children never completely goes away, even when they become parents themselves!

Embarrassingly enough I found myself plotting against my parents with my sister….so I guess I am in a similar situation as your children may be in.

Thank goodness, my girls don’t read my blog. There would be many drama moments. But I love your kids’ revenge. How can I see this Facebook page???

Facebook is great for monitoring your kids internet activities. It is also a magnificent way to annoy them. My 12 year old and 15 hate it. In addition to pokes, you can also start pillow fights with them. If you see that they are online at bedtime, you can open a chat and tell them to say ‘gtg’ and to get off and go to bed. You can send them messages to correct the grammar and spelling in their status. … What a weapon, I mean tool…….

PS. If you get an invitation to join a group called something like “Moms that are so lame they actually have facebook accounts”, I suggest hitting the ignore button.

I love this. My kids are younger so they are being raised with everything they do showing up on the internet. I figure that because I follow them around with a camera all day they will be desensitized to any paparazzi they may encounter later on when they are rich and famous…

    Brilliant!
Adding this to my arsenal of information to use when my kids are big enough to care ;-)
