Rain is in the forecast for Sunday. Yep, that would be the day that we have invited 200 people over to the house for a party. Now the debate about getting a tent seems moot.
So I am getting ready for this party, baking something, and I just happen to mention to my husband that in case anything ever happened to me, our oven is about 25 degrees hot and you have to turn it down just a little to get your recipes to work out well. He told me that he’d just use the insurance money and get a new oven. I was deeply touched. I was tempted to burn the cookies but chocolate chips are my favorite.
My children are all pitching in to clean up before the party on Sunday, and I am not going to look while they work. It’s hard to watch someone else hastily stuff your things into hiding places, vacuum up my lost earrings, throw out important papers that have been hanging around for 6 months, and I don’t want to make comments or give directives that might make it sound like I am ungrateful. (I am just picky which is the politically correct term for critical.)
Rain on Sunday. Imagine the muddy footprints all over the clean place that your children just tidied up… The only good thing about having rain on the day of your last child’s graduation party is that tears will be harder to spot. Or you could wear no mascara but then you wouldn’t look quite as good when your guests arrive.
Rain. Ah, as they say, whatever will be will be. Where is Doris Day now that I need her?
If I were to name a new kind of wine, I would name it Doris Day. At least that way, I would eventually get into that “Que Sera, Sera” thing – about half way through the bottle.

Hahaha I’m picky too. Poor kids.
Hope you have an awesome party.
We opted to skip the grad party for blondie and instead going to San Diego and calling it graduation present for her and sweet 16 for Devii. We just had a guest from out of the country and I (nor they) could handle any more stress.

Know what you mean. My teenage granddaughters wanted to earn some money so I let them dust and sweep. They did a good job but once the sweeper stopped and wouldn’t restart so I had to call the company and they told me about a reset button that I didn’t know was there and it worked. My duster has a habit of dusting around things and not moving and dusting under so we had a discussion on that. Oh well!! They get better every time the do it.

Oh, how I cringe when my kids help. It’s a tough job we have, cringing on the inside and looking all pleased on the outside. Hope the party was a huge — dry — hit.
