Low Scoring Weekend

October 14th, 2009 · 2 Comments

On Sunday, we ended up at the Bills game inside in one of the boxed sections. The view was great but the game was terrible. The score? 6 to 3 – and no, it was not a baseball game. The weird thing is that I missed hearing the crowd noises – it’s pretty subdued inside the box comparatively.

The family members from California froze in the parking lot (50 and windy) and we warmed them up over the grill. We have one of those Coleman portable grills which is fine for hot dots, sausages and burgers but don’t waste any good meat on them. They are good for sausage-like processed meats and warming your own buns.

It was the first time my college kid was home since August. I took him back yesterday and the drive through the hills covered with fall leaves was breathtaking. Leaving him again, not so breathtaking.

We stopped to pick him up a “few things” and we ended up spending over $60 – story of my life. Went to Applebees for that 2 for $20 dinner thing.

It was the first time we really had a chance to talk. He is a talker and I have missed that. A few text messages and Facebook posts are good for knowing they are alive, but not if they are well.

I even let him drive 1/2 the way there and only criticized him twice. That’s a record for me.

I know, I sent two off to college at the same time. All I got back was dirty laundry. No just kidding they did come home with their laundry.

Ha! My electric bill actually shows a difference when the kids are home as they washing machine is on constantly. At least boys wear their clothes more than once.
