My Kids Never Hissed At Me. Or Did They?

January 25th, 2010 · 6 Comments

So I am still catsitting for my daughter this week and the darn thing is still hissing at me. I have even tried being nice, but to no avail. Treats are only good for about 20 seconds of appreciation. I could get at least 20 good minutes out of my kids for a treat, longer for a full meal they liked.

She eats, sleeps, hisses and gets into my things. I call her, she ignores me. I want to sleep, she decides to fuss at me.

She even hissed at me when I watched the Extreme Makeover Home Edition that was filmed this fall in Buffalo aired last night on TV. It was pretty amazing, and it did show that this is an unusually generous area of the country, probably because we have had it pretty hard and know what it’s like to be in need. Way to go WNY. The family was so appreciative. I know a cat that should take a note or two.

She has no claws so I am giving her a bit of a pass as I theorize it makes cats feel defenseless and therefore, somewhat crabby when in new surroundings. I feel that way when I go out and I forget to put on my jewelry.

I have come to the conclusion that this cat watching thing is a lot like having a teenager in the house. At least she doesn’t need a ride somewhere.

Loved your post. I have two cats but they are not hissers except at each other when they get ready to rumble. My cousin had a Siamese once that hated me for some reason and I barely moved when I was at her apartment.

this is why we don’t have cats.

i always see pictures of babies cuddled up to cats. but you never see the end result– what happens when the mommy leaves the room.

and you never see pictures of that baby.

    ever.

    again.

As a cat owner and parent of teenagers, I had to laugh at your post! Love the picture, too.

I am NOT a cat lover by any means! Now back to my kids never hissed at me. At the first sniff of being grounded they would bolt out their bedroom windows! Take Care, Peter

My mum had a cat. It was a hisser, too. Only that thing had claws. And teeth. And evil, beady eyes.
