Before I researched the GoDaddy site, I put my friend’s WordPress installation on her account. And then I waited. And waited. And will probably wait every time I have to update something. I have about 20 other WordPress installs on two other hosts and NONE are as slow as GoDaddy.
So, I did a little Google search and I found out that this has been an issue for sometime. I am not one to suffer slow-loading webpages very well and it’s painful for me to wait to do something as simple as replace a photo or post some text. Ugh.
If you are using GoDaddy for a WordPress blog or website, think twice before you do. If you don’t believe me, at least Google “slow+wordpress+godaddy” and read all about it for yourself.
And sure, GoDaddy support will tell you to install some WP caching plugins, which do help a little, but not much. Not enough to make it even come close to WordPress installs I have on other servers. Be warned!
I do so love my iPad 2. It does the most amazing things, like making my ebay listings such a breeze. You can take the photo, upload it and list right from the thing – and so much more.
And I also bought a blue tooth keyboard from Amazon.com, which makes it more like having a little laptop than ever. I bought the eWonder keyboard first and that was pretty stinky. I returned it – minus the 10% restocking fee (LAME) and got a Zaggfolio, that I love.
The Zaggfolio is pretty easy to type on but there is a little learning curve as it is smaller than what you’re used to, of course. It is very easy to set up and looks more like a quality folio than the previously mentioned piece of crap purchase. The price was a bit more, but it is worth it.
When you have a game lover, then when it’s time for a gift, there is nothing better to consider than getting them one of the latest gaming desktops. They can do amazing things, have fast, fast and spectacular graphics and will make your game lover very happy. And you can use the computer for other things too – like what you want – because it is fast, reliable, powerful, and has a massive hard drive space so you’ll never run out of room to store your photos, music, documents, and other files. Just saying…
Do you dabble in the Internet? I do and looking for a host can be confusing. There are so many out there and they all have different pricing and services.
If you are looking for a company offering managed hosting, one to look at isINetU. Their website says that it provides Dedicated Managed Hosting Services to businesses around the world and they have a consultative approach for clients to increase reliability, security and performance.
They offer managed PCI compliant hosting, HIPAA compliance hosting, private cloud hosting, server virtualization and claim they have a full range of business services including: managed Microsoft and Linux servers, backup & recovery, security services, PCI compliance, SAS70 Type II compliance, comprehensive monitoring and 24/7/365 live expert help and many more things too. It’s worth a look at and then take a look at this managed hosting info too.
Everything my middle daughter owns has to be pink, so I wasn’t very surprised when she came home with a pink Acer Aspire computer last summer. What I was surprised with, was how small it was. And honestly, I thought the small thing was a mistake.
She was supposed to be getting it to study for her CPA exams, which are intense, and this little thing would, in my humble estimation, not be big enough to use for studying. I guess I was wrong.
She studied all summer long on it with no problem, and to date, has passed three of the four exams. Obviously, it was okay to study from. She has had no issues with it and yet, she paid under $300 for this little thing. One time, it did die on her but she rebooted using the CD it came with and was back in business with no troubles. I was impressed with the Acer Aspire and it certainly was a great little portable computer that was a combination of function and fashionablity. (I made that word up.)
Tell me this isn’t adorable! I have a daughter who is all about pink. It’s pink everything. Look at what I found for my little pink lover. I was looking for something a little different in computer desks and I found it at trillora.com’s office furniture collection. What I like about this is not only the pink but the clean look and how there are multiple levels of storage spots so she can put her speakers on one, her clock and iPod charger on another and not have the workspace all cluttered up. Levels, levels of storage areas – brilliant. Now, I bet you are saying that you think this might be real expensive and you don’t have the money to plop down on your princess. Wrong! It’s only $89.00. And if you are in the market for something with even more storage capacity and a more professional office-type look, they have that too. And you can trust trillora.com as they are a member of the Better Business Bureau online. Very reassuring.
I constantly scare my children with my unique ability to forget just about everything but one thing I don’t forget is to make sure my computer(s), and yes, I have more than one, have enough memory. I am a sucker for anything electronic and fast so adding memory is a must from time to time. Now, it’s just about time for some additional notebook computer memory which is the step I usually take before deciding to get a new computer all together.
While there are a ton of Web sites out there for memory, I see what’s on sale and at www.memorysuppliers.com and right now there are a lot of items on special.
I wish I hadn’t gone there because I found some really cool USB storage that’s available in a bracelet – yes, a bracelet! They call it a wristband (more unisexed, I guess) but how cool is that? You can even get a USB drive imprinted specially for your company or personalized so that is one great idea for a promo item for some of my customers. Oh, you know you want to check it out now, don’t you? I don’t blame you.
My friend Greg first told me about “zipping” a document if was too large to email someone. I thought he had been into some mindbending substance as compression to me meant something applied to a wound to stop bleeding. So I’m wasn’t born technical…
My friend Greg meant digital file compression/decompression and I quickly learned how to from him. I used PKWARE and I have trusted it for many years now.
You might know that PKWARE is the inventor of the .zip standard. I bet you didn’t know that they are giving away a non-commercial use license of SecureZIP Express and the opportunity to win great prizes in the new “Decrypt and Drive” contest!
With SecureZIP Express you can compress/decompress and encrypt files that you store or send. Compressing files is a great way to save storage space, especially on thumb drives and CD’s, and we all have files we should be securing! The software also includes a digital certificate so you can exchange files securely with others without using passwords. Only the person the file was encrypted for can open it when you use a digital certificate. The software is fully licensed for non-commercial use and has no toolbars or spyware!
For years, PKWARE has given free .zip software away and wants as many users as possible to receive the benefits of SecureZIP. PKWARE is giving away great prizes including a Honda scooter, bicycles, Wii games, gas cards, and more! Visit www.DecryptandDrive.com to play the game daily and/or download the free software.
You need to have SecureZIP, and the digital certificate it installs, on the computer you play the game from. You can also get SecureZIP Express at www.securezip.com.
Good luck! Hope you win something cool! Actually, I hope I do.
I have this little baby and I love it. It’s a Linksys router and it’s the best. Someone told me that I had to have my computers networked and that I needed a network setup – wrong! It had so man cables attached to it, it was a tripping hazard. Go wireless young man! No only is it a nicer look underneath my desk these days, but I am free to bring my laptop anywhere and get online as are the kids when they come and visit. This new model is an embedded antennae for even faster speed and range – now I am actually working OUTSIDE in my yard with my laptop. The hammock is calling while I shop too. And Linksys is a recognized global leader in all things wireless so you can feel secure that you made a good choice when going all the way – to wireless.
