You Say It’s Good For Me? A Seaweed Bath?

Okay, I had never heard of the benefits of a Seaweed Bath, but then I found this online.

My daughter has sensitive skin that is prone to eczema, so I was curious. This is what I found out – the benefits of seaweed and how folks with skin conditions were starting to use it more and more.  I also found out that Northern European and Asian cultures have used seaweed from sea/ocean waters for centuries to alleviate the conditions that lead to irritated and red skin. And you can order it online too from this company at the link above. Interesting..

What Works for Acne?

It’s really hard to figure out what product might be effective when you have acne. There are a ton of them in the stores, more online and some of them cost a fortune. I saw a bar of soap for $124 – that is ridiculous!  I have actually stood in front of the products on the shelves at my local store and just been overwhelmed at all of their claims. It made me look like a deer in the headlights. There is a place that I have gone to online to review products that are used as a treatment for acne. There are listings of the products, what they contain, the price, effectiveness and safety and then there is a little scale with ratings on it in different colors. My son has acne and we have tried a few things but he isn’t the only one. Believe it or not, at an age to old to mention, I still get acne. My daughter in her 20s does too, so we have tried products listed here. It is also a great place to see what is new as they are always coming out with new acne products. So you might want to give it a shot – www.acnecuresrevealed.net.

Sensitive Skin? Got You Covered

Olive Oil SoapMy daughter’s skin is so senstive that she needs to use speical soap and laundry products or she is in agony. She even needs special toilet paper – uh, huh.

We have searched for soaps and lotions that she can use without turning into a boiled lobster and the search is over! We found that natural olive oil products – soap and creme – are wonderful.  They clean and moisturize without any irritation whatsoever.

The olive oil soap lathers up way better than other soaps and it has no fragrance to speak of. Neither does the olive oil creme. They are made with pure natural olive oil and some other things like Vitamen E, rosemary, aloe – all things that will soothe the skin, not irritate it. I started using the olive oil soap too as it lathers so well that it is like a facial cream cleanser. It takes my makeup right off and leaves my skin clean but not tight. In the winter, when the house is so dry, that’s important.

You can get these products at 10% here. I am a big fan and I have turned my sister-in-law into one too. Once you try these natural products you will be one too.

Olive Oil Creme – Fabulous!

Olive Oil CremeDry skin but an oily T zone? You have to try the most luscious facial cream – oh, excuse me – creme for your face. It is a natural product with olive oil as one of the main ingredients. Don’t let that fool you. It’s not oily. It leaves your skin moist but not slick at all. Frankly, this surprised me as I have oily skin.

I was looking for a base for my mineral foundation powder. If you use these products as I do, you know that you can’t apply them to a dry face or you will look like a powder keg.  Many a time have I applied my minerals only to have to take them off and make sure I moisturized my skin.

Olive Oil Creme is fantastic as a base for mineral foundations and it is so whipped and creamy that it almost looks edible.  It comes in a generous 4 oz. jar which seems to last me forever. I love this stuff and in fact, I will be giving it to my mother as a Christmas gift and she is the pickiest woman on earth. I say this with all confidence because she is computer illiterate and will never find this post about her. Ho Ho Ho. I do highly recommend Olive Oil Creme as it is made with natural ingredients, good for even the most sensitive skin, and leaves your skin smooth, moist and not oily and – I really do use it.

Burt’s Bees Lip Balm

Burt’s Bees Lip Balm [rating: 5.0]

If you have never tried Burt’s Bees lip balm, you must get some ASAP. It is the most awesome stuff, and feels so soothing on your lips. It uses actual beeswax and honey in the balm formulations and honey is a great moisturizer. The company says its products are “Earth Friendly Natural Personal Care for the Greater Good,” which is nice, but all I really care about is how they heal and moisturize my chapped lips.

I first bought a tube of Burt’s Bees at a Walden Books as it looked really interesting and it came in some great translucent shades that added color while providing moisture and shine. I was hooked. When you put it on, it’s like it’s medicated and you feel a tingle. I ended up buying about 3 more tubes of it later on that month and now my purse ALWAYS has a tube in it, I have one in my makeup drawer and I have a backup supply in stock.

I also like to keep the little round tin of balm by my bedside to put on before bed. It’s a bit old-fashioned looking and you have to apply it with your finger, but it seems to last longer as it feels a little harder than the product in the tubes. Burt’s does offer a line of other products that my family has given me as they know I like the products.

I also like Burt’s Res-Q Ointment in the green container, especially when I have a cold and frequent blowing make the sides of my nose sore. A little dab goes right to the rescue. Res-Q Ointment is made with Comfrey and Allantoin, which are known for their healing and anti-inflammatory properties, as well as Lavandin, which helps prevent scarring, so it’s good for little abrasions and bruises too. You can get their products online as I think they may be hard to find in some places, although I have noticed them in more stores lately, mostly pharmacies. It’s great stuff and once you use it, you’ll be as hooked on Burt’s as I am.
